Q.
|
Who should use ShoppingNotes.com? |
|
| A. |
ShoppingNotes.com is for people who do any kind of on-line shopping.
Especially if you have any of these symptoms, ShoppingNotes.com is
definitely for you:
-
I love sales, but every time I just can't act quickly enough.
-
I have a zillion things saved in my "Favorites". It takes
minutes just to scroll down to the bottom of the list, let alone
to find that one product I want.
-
I often save things in the "Shopping Cart" or "Wish List" of
different web sites, but sometimes they just disappear.
-
I use Word Document or Excel Spreadsheet to keep my shopping
list.
-
I spend a lot of time browsing through many products every day,
and I just can't remember where I've seen that one particular
product.
-
I am shopping for some big-ticket items, and I can't make the
decisions yet.
-
I really need one central place to keep everything I am shopping
for.
-
I like to keep everything organized, even when I'm on line.

Q.
|
Is ShoppingNotes.com free? |
|
| A. |
ShoppingNotes.com is free for personal use. If you are interested in
using ShoppingNotes.com for commercial purposes, please discuss with
us by sending an email to
info@shoppingnotes.com.
|
|
|
Q.
|
Can other people see what I save to ShoppingNotes.com?
|
|
| A. |
At this time, ShoppingNotes.com is focused on personal use, so your
personal information and what you save are not made public or shared
with any third parties. Please be aware, however, that in the future
we may choose to make ShoppingNotes.com more "social" by making
public or sharing with third parties (1) the URLs you save, (2) the
price alerts you set, and (3) the favorite levels you set (the
number of hearts you give to your saved URLs) in an
anonymous and aggregate way (that is, other people may know
what URLs you saved, but will not know who saved them). Anything
beyond the above-mentioned, including but not limited to your email
address and the notes you save with your saved URLs, will never be
made public or shared with any third parties without your prior
consent.
|
|
|
Q.
|
Why do you ask for my email address? Will I get spams?
|
|
| A. |
We need your email address to send you price alerts. We take your
privacy very seriously. We do not send you advertisements, and will
absolutely NEVER share or sell your email address to any third
parties.
|
|
|
Q.
|
Why should I install the "Save to My Shopping Notes" button?
|
|
| A. |
The Save to My Shopping Notes button saves you the hassle to
copy and paste URL addresses to the
front page every time. This button is installed
under "Favorites" in Internet Explorer or in "Bookmarks Toolbar" in
Firefox, and works in a way similar to browser's bookmark. So you
just browse through your favorite shopping sites as usual, and when
you see a product of interest, in two clicks you can save it to your
Shopping Notes.
|
|
|
Q.
|
Why is it indeed safe to install the "Save to My Shopping Notes"
button?
|
|
| A. |
The Save to My Shopping Notes button is a small piece of
JavaScript code, which can be inspected in the HTML source code by
anyone. You are not installing any software or plug-ins at all.
Furthermore, JavaScript's security limitations forbids it to access
your computer's file system, so it is impossible that it will bring
viruses or spyware to your computer. The "You are adding a favorite
that may not be safe" warning you see when installing the button
in Internet Explorer is just a standard message that you do not need
to worry too much about. Firefox does not show such a warning.

Q.
|
How to sign up for an account? |
|
| A. |
Click here to go to the "Sign Up" page, fill
out the form (required fields are marked with
*), and click on Sign Up
in the bottom and then on Confirm on the next page. After
that, you should receive an email from "ShoppingNotes.com
Administrator" to verify your email address. It is important that
you open that email and click on Verify Email in that email.
This will make sure that your email address is correct and can
receive our price alerts.
|
|
|
Q.
|
What does it mean to "remember me on this computer" when I sign up
for an account or sign in?
|
|
| A. |
This means that your sign-in information will be kept on this
computer (more specifically, in your browser's cookies) and you will
not need to sign in again from the same computer. Be sure to uncheck
this box if you do not want others to access your ShoppingNotes.com
account, like when you are using a public computer.
|
|
|
Q.
|
What does it mean to "continue without signing up"?
|
|
| A. |
This means that you can start trying some of the features at
ShoppingNotes.com without giving your email address, etc. We will
give you a temporary account. However, you will not be able to use
some of the cool features like price alerts or price refresh. You
will not be able to access your Shopping Notes from other computers,
either. So we strongly encourage you to
sign up for a permanent account (all the
Shopping Notes you have saved to the temporary account will be
transferred to your new account) to enjoy all the cool features.

left of the products you want to refresh the prices for, and click
on Refresh. Our web site will go get a copy of the web pages
at those URLs and show the new prices if there are price changes.

|
|
Q.
|
Why is it safe to give you my email passwords and my friends' email
addresses when inviting friends?
|
|
| A. |
We've integrated with Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo! Mail, and Gmail
to make it convenient for you to access your address books. We do
not ask for your email passwords. Instead, you are redirected to
those email sites to sign in and grant us access to your address
books there. So we have no way of knowing your email passwords,
accessing your emails, or sending emails in your name at all. More
information on how this works for
Windows Live Hotmail,
Yahoo! Mail,
and
Gmail.
When you use the "Invite Friends" page to
invite friends by email, we will send an invitation email to your
friends only once and will not keep their email addresses. We take
your privacy very seriously. We do not send you or your friends
advertisements, and will absolutely NEVER share or sell your email
addresses to any third parties.
